Mermen, Mountaineers Play 10 to Settle Game 1, Corpus Christi Now Leads Series 1-0
One game in and the League Championship Series is already looking exhausting.

The Corpus Christi Mermen and the Winchester Mountaineers needed 10 innings to settle Game 1, with the Mermen finally taking the 4-2 victory at Mountaineers Park. Excelling in the win was Corpus Christi pitcher Erik Ashley, who threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball. The Mermen and Mountaineers are playing a best-of-7 series.

Dustin Harter came through with a big-time hit for Corpus Christi. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 4-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Said losing manager Mitchell Young: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mountaineers Park in Winchester.
