Valkenburg, Eskimo Brothers Sink Rotters Again in Game 3
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of designated hitter Steve Valkenburg, the Encinitas Eskimo Brothers got a road win against the Riverside Rotters, 7-6, in Game 3 of the Division Series. Valkenburg was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs for the Eskimo Brothers, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 0.
Juan Gonzalez drove in one run for Encinitas. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Gonzalez had a clutch at-bat. Facing Riverside hurler Ben Foster, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Eskimo Brothers a 7-6 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Gonzalez. "And not try to do too much."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Rotters Ballpark in Riverside.
