Gangsters Beaten By Giants, 8-3
|
Behind the hitting of Alex Martinez, the Detroit Giants stopped the Chicago Gangsters, 8-3. Martinez went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Giants. Phil White nailed down the save. The Giants, now 10-2, have played inspired baseball.
Ruben Cabriales had a big bases-clearing double for the Giants in the bottom of the third inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 32-year old left-handed pitcher Jesus Fernandez and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 4-0.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Cabriales.
