Simpson Impresses as Scorpions Knock Off Captains, 9-1
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Syracuse Scorpions and Tampa Bay Captains.

Tampa Bay had no answer for Syracuse Scorpions hurler Matt Simpson, who overwhelmed Captains hitters as the Scorpions coasted to victory, 9-1. Syracuse is in third place in the American Conference Central Division with a record of 45-63.

Simpson was in the zone all game. He frustrated Tampa Bay hitters while giving the Scorpions 7 innings of quality work. Simpson threw 101 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 9 punchouts.

"I'm happy we won," said Simpson. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
