Eagles Sunk by Pines
|
The Maine Pines scooped up a win at Eagles Stadium, dumping the Indianapolis Eagles, 5-2. Ryan Flamino, who is tied for 8th in the NC in innings pitched with 135.1, was essential to his team's success. Flamino, the winner, moves to 9-4. He threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. The save went to Chris Hames, his 6th this season.
Skyler Fundis had a big 2-run home run for the Pines in the top of the fifth inning. With Maine leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from John Hennig, who is tied for 10th in the NC with a 3.15 ERA, and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Pines on top, 5-2.
"Ryan did a good job of managing their lineup," said Maine manager David Whigham.
The first-place Pines, at 75-31, now lead their division by 10 games.
