The Cincinnati Royals defeated the New York Nightmare, 6-5. Doing his part was first baseman Aaron Jalbert, who went 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs. Cincinnati reliever Kevin Kovach picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Gary Montgomery was saddled with the loss. Cameron Hutchinson closed it out for Cincinnati, earning his 23rd save.

Had Jay Bloms not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Bloms hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Royals.

"Good win," said Bloms. "Maybe some of the whiners in the clubhouse will pipe down for a little while now."

The Royals have now won 5 straight.
