Big Game from Wish Not Enough, Gangsters Lose
|
Chicago left fielder Justin Wish had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Wish went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3, even as San Diego beat the Gangsters, 10-7. The save went to Devin Wickliffe, his 7th this season. San Diego currently is in first place in the National Conference West Division at 61-44.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the top of the eighth. That's when Fleet center fielder Ed Woodside hit a sinker from Ken Hicks for a 2-run single. Just like that, San Diego was up, 7-6.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said San Diego manager Brian Burnett.
