A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Halifax Heathens and Oakland Invaders.

The Halifax Heathens beat the Oakland Invaders, 8-2, at Howard Terminal. Halifax designated hitter Leo Orozco had an outstanding performance. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Chris Stoddard earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Steve McManus was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

With Halifax leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Orozco came up to bat against Oakland pitcher Justin Hesley. Orozco hit a fastball to center for a 3-run home run. His 30th home run of the season put the Heathens on top, 5-0.

"We were firing on all cylinders," said Heathens manager David Morris.

The first-place Heathens, at 64-40, lead the American Conference South Division by 7 games.
