Eagles Earn 6-5 Win Versus Marauders
|
The Indianapolis Eagles defeated the Philadelphia Marauders, 6-5, in 15 innings. Much of the credit belonged to first baseman T.J. Walker, who was 2-6 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Eagles. Indianapolis reliever Mike Canales snagged the win, upping his record to 4-1. Justin Erim shouldered the loss. Philadelphia's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Batting in the bottom of the 15th, 26-year old third baseman Victor Mendez had a real shot to win the game. Philadelphia pitcher Justin Erim was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Mendez hit a run-scoring single. The Eagles had a walk-off triumph.
Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
