Gladiators Lose as Reapers Stage Late Rally
|
The Carolina Reapers faced a tough opponent in Phoenix pitcher Felipe Ayala, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Reedy River Stadium by a final score of 5-3. Ayala went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Andy Hannah recorded the save for Carolina, his 5th of the season. Carolina now sits at 43-61, while Phoenix falls to 52-52.
Carolina went up, 5-3, on Bobby Phillips's 7th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Phillips hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Phoenix pitcher Hector Berrios shaking his head.
"It feels good to get this one," Phillips told the Carolina Observer.
