Royals Prevail, 2-1, Over New York

The Cincinnati Royals racked up a win at The Castle, bumping off the New York Nightmare, 2-1. Casey Abbott, who started for Cincinnati, pitched effectively for his team. Abbott yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 10-5. Picking up the save was 32-year old right-handed pitcher Gordie Clifford.
The Royals got a big at-bat from right fielder Jerry Blake. For the game, Blake went 1 for 2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 2-0 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," New York manager Joey Bishop said, following the tough loss.
Cincinnati is in third place in the National Conference North East Division with a record of 49-54.
