Eagles Outdo Nightmare in Extra Innings
|
The Indianapolis Eagles defeated the New York Nightmare, 5-3, in 10 innings in National Conference action at Nightmare Stadium. Indianapolis pitcher Justin Thompson had a standout performance. Morgan Jenkins, now 7-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Indianapolis is first in the National Conference North East Division with a record of 63-40.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Henry Cortez? The 27-year old second baseman Cortez stroked a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put Indianapolis up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Nice to keep stacking the wins," said Cortez.
