The San Francisco Fire trumped the Tampa Bay Captains, 6-2, at Ahoy Park. San Francisco designated hitter Malcolm Babcock was terrific. He belted 2 home runs. The Fire improved their record to 49-54 with the win over Tampa Bay.

Willie Villegas had a big 3-run home run for the Fire in the top of the fifth inning. With San Francisco leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from Phil Gregoire, who leads the AC in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Fire on top, 6-0.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Babcock told the San Francisco Herald.
