The Charleston Sea Dogs had to overcome a fine effort from Phoenix pitcher Johnny Keener to win, 3-1, at Gladiators Ballpark. Keener went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Picking up his 5th save was fan favorite Mario Barillas. With the win, Charleston pushed its record to 72-31.

Charlie Paquin, who is a two-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. Paquin contributed a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Charleston up, 3-1.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Paquin. "You've got to get results."
