5-Hit Game for McCarson
|
South Carolina left fielder Ed McCarson had a big day at Founders Park against the Kansas State Wildcats. The 18-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 8-7 Gamecocks triumph over Kansas State.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," McCarson said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Ed McCarson doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, walked in the 9th, singled in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
This season, McCarson is batting .309 with 54 hits, 7 home runs, 25 RBIs, 27 walks, .413 OBP and has scored 31 runs. He has played in 43 games.
