Rodrigo Lemus was superb against Mexico City. The left-hander, who leads the NC in complete games with 1, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Fleet victory. The score was 8-3. Lemus, now 11-6, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The 58-44 Fleet lead the National Conference West Division by one game.

With San Diego trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Dale Day hit a 2-run single off Mexico City pitcher John Manship. It put the Fleet ahead 2-1.

"Rodrigo was hitting his spots and everything had life," said San Diego manager Brian Burnett.
