Fountain Hills beat Detroit on the strength of starting pitcher Brian Wilkey's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Fountain Hills, now 48-54, holds down third place in the American Conference North East Division.

Joe Zerger hit a 2-run home run off Phil White in the bottom of the second, which put the 23ers ahead, 2-1. In addition to the homer, Zerger had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"Brian kept his poise and got the job done," said Fountain Hills manager Efren Nieman. "He was outstanding."
