Lopez on Fire, 5-for-5 Against LSU
|
Today at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field, Eduardo Lopez put on an impressive display.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys catcher tagged LSU pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the LSU Tigers by the score of 14-10.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Lopez said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Cowboys manager was unwilling to offer the catcher much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Eduardo told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Matt Howard said.
Eduardo Lopez hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, walked in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
In 24 games Lopez is hitting .400 this season with 36 hits, 1 home run, 22 RBIs, 9 walks, .455 OBP and has scored 16 runs.
