Invaders Defeat Reapers, 8-7
|
The Oakland Invaders weathered an outstanding game by Carolina left fielder Ryan Burchett to topple the Reapers, 8-7. Burchett hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Idhma Kodandarami, 2-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The Invaders, at 61-41, lead by one game in their division.
John Piscitelli played the role of hero for Oakland. In the bottom of the 13th, he launched a 2-run home run off Shane Edwards to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Piscitelli said.
