Eagles Drop Trash Pandas, 5-2

J.R. Mitchell, who is a three-time All-Star, had a strong outing for the Indianapolis Eagles against the Toronto Trash Pandas at Trash Panda Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. Mitchell yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 7-3. Morgan Jenkins recorded the save for Indianapolis, his 3rd of the season.
In the top of the 5th, Indianapolis took the lead on a 2-run single by Victor Mendez. At the time, the Eagles were trailing 2-1, but Mendez's hit with two outs against Toronto pitcher Travis Anderson put them in front, 3-2.
Mendez attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
The first-place Eagles, at 62-40, now lead their division by 4 games.
