Whistlers Grind Out 2-0 Win
The Syracuse Scorpions wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter John Froerer, falling, 2-0, to the Boston Whistlers at Whislters Park. Jayden Nesmith notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 4.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-3. Mark Dudley, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Jeff Beeson had a big run-scoring double for the Whistlers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from John Froerer, who finished 5th in the AC in strikeouts with 263 in 2018, and swatted a double to center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Whistlers ahead, 2-0.

Boston manager Ben Foster commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."

The second-place Whistlers sport a record of 48-53.
