Hayes Lifts Royals to 6-3 Triumph
|
Behind the hitting of Eric Hayes, the Cincinnati Royals stopped the Indianapolis Eagles, 6-3. Hayes went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Royals. Dave Harvey was the winner. He's now 11-4. The loser was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Dusty Nelson. With the win, the Royals hiked their record to 60-41.
Hayes made an early impact for Cincinnati when he stroked his 20th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which came in the top of the second, put the Royals on top, 5-0.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Hayes, "and then get after it again."
