Coppell High School Wins Opening Round
ABA High School pundits who figured the Opening Round between the Coppell High School Cowboys and Franklin High School Wildcats would go the distance were right on the mark.

The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with Coppell High School coming out on top thanks to a 4-3 win in the deciding game at Franklin High School Stadium, to wrap things up 2-1.

"You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Cowboys second baseman Ryan Russ, who was named series MVP.

For the series, Russ had 5 hits for a .417 average. He had 1 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Coppell High School Cowboys will play against the Orange Lutheran High School Lancers in the next round. Orange Lutheran High School won their series against the Villa Park High School Spartans 2 games to 0. The Sweet 16 schedule will be announced after the Opening Round finishes.
