Hollywood Slaps 6-4 Loss on Fire
|
The Hollywood Stars handed the San Francisco Fire a loss at San Francisco Grounds. The final score was 6-4. Eric Daniel was one of the major contributors for Hollywood. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Chris Benson, the winner, goes to 8-8. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts over 7.1 innings. Andy Waring, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2017 draft, earned the save for Hollywood.
There was more than one reason the Stars beat the Fire, but Daniel's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"We ground out the win," said Daniel. "That's all that matters."
The last-place Stars hiked their record to 43-56.
