Cincinnati Beats Charleston, 5-1
|
The Cincinnati Royals got a stellar performance from pitcher Casey Abbott, who handcuffed the Charleston offense en route to a win, 5-1, at The Castle. Abbott picked up the win for Cincinnati, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 9-5. Gordie Clifford earned the save for Cincinnati, his 5th.
The Royals got a big at-bat from left fielder Eric Hayes. For the game, Hayes was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 2-0 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Hayes.
The Royals are now 46-52.
