Reapers Snatch Late-Game, 6-5 Win
|
The Carolina Reapers turned back the Cincinnati Royals, 6-5, at The Castle. Todd Korn, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mark Herrera picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Owen Kase suffered the loss. The Reapers, at 48-50, sit in second place in the National Conference South Division.
Carolina used the timely hitting of Bill Havey to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reapers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Korn told the Carolina Bulletin.
