Mounties Take Tight Tangle

The Moncton Mounties knocked off the Buffalo Bellflowers, 2-1, in Northern Conference action at Mapleton Yards. Moncton pitcher and Thomson, Georgia, native Greg Forness had an outstanding performance. Greg Brando, now 4-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. The third-place Mounties have won 4 in a row.
Moncton took a 2-1 lead on Jim Kaufman's 19th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Kaufman hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Buffalo pitcher Eduardo Vargas visibly frustrated.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Moncton manager Kevin Squillace.
