Vancouver picked up a win at Dell Diamond, bumping off the Austin Desperados, 4-3. Pitcher Ryan Heyer was a major reason the Mounties emerged victorious. Heyer, now 6-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Lorenzo Villarreal earned the save for Vancouver, his 2nd.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Brian Massey? The Vancouver right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mounties on top, 3-2. For the game, Massey had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
Vancouver manager Zaire Hyde commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
