Chargers Tag Princes with 5-2 Loss
|
The first-place Terra Linda Chargers took on the Lincoln Princes in front of a spirited crowd.
The Terra Linda Chargers faced a tough opponent in Lincoln pitcher Gilberto Vergara, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Plantersville by a final score of 5-2. Vergara went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Luis Cortez, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 3. Cory Crabtree notched his 11th save of the season.
Terra Linda took the lead, 4-2, on Brian Evans's 22nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Lincoln pitcher Armando Salas in the bottom of the seventh.
"Solid game, solid win tonight," said a smiling Evans.
The first-place Chargers have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
