The Whitby Bats could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Santiago Rivera into a win. Instead, the Long Island Torpedoes prevailed, 4-3. Rivera threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run. Miguel Mosquera, who is tied for 3rd in the NC in holds with 8, was the winner in relief. His record is now 8-4. The losing pitcher was Darryl Snipes. Danny Guerrero was credited with the save, his 4th in 6 tries.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bob Parrott? The 18-year old first baseman Parrott stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Long Island up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
