Caribou Get Hard-Earned Win
Halifax wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Branden Covington, falling to the Vancouver Caribou, 3-2. Covington threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Vancouver reliever Tommy LaBiche picked up the win, upping his record to 6-4. Jeff Buck absorbed the loss. The win for the Caribou raised their record to 53-44.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Cesar Ornelas? The 24-year old center fielder Ornelas stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put Vancouver up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Halifax manager David Morris. "But we decided not to take it."
