The Fleet grabbed a win, 5-3, at Dell Diamond, overcoming a fine effort from Austin pitcher Jason Emary. Emary went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. David Johnson picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Bob Baucke suffered the loss. With the win, San Diego raised its record to 57-39.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Brent Brogdon? The 24-year old catcher Brogdon stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put San Diego up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"This game is going to humble you at times and you've got to man up and deal with it," said Austin manager .
