Austin got a terrific game from left fielder Ross Gotch. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Vancouver, 7-6. Gotch went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. Eric Sawyer picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Chris Frost suffered the loss. The losses continue to add up for Austin, having now dropped 13 straight.
In the top of the third, Vancouver designated hitter Richard Ulmer had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Ulmer stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, Vancouver. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Vancouver manager Zaire Hyde.
