Phoenix and San Francisco duked it out and the Gladiators came out victorious.

The Phoenix Gladiators knocked off the San Francisco Fire, 2-1, in American Conference action at Gladiators Ballpark. Phoenix pitcher and Rome, Georgia, native Bob Rehm had an outstanding performance. Rehm, the winner, moves to 8-3. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk.

The Gladiators got a big at-bat from left fielder Brian Shultz. For the game, Shultz went 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Phoenix a 2-0 lead.

"Tough loss," said San Francisco manager Zach Freeman. "This one will sting for a while."

With the win, Phoenix has a record of 44-52. San Francisco falls to 47-49.
