Terra Linda Hot Streak Continues with 2-1 Win
|
In a tension-filled contest between the Terra Linda Chargers and the Moncton Mounties, pitcher Omar Valentin was superb. The Terra Linda right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the NC with a 2.26 ERA, spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. The winner was Valentin. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Greg Brando. Cory Crabtree picked up the save for Terra Linda, his 8th of the year.
Sean Trahan's at-bat in the bottom of the second was significant for the Chargers. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Terra Linda trailing 1-0, the Chargers shortstop hit a sacrifice fly.
"Tough loss," said Moncton manager Kevin Squillace. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
Now 74-30, Terra Linda has won 21 consecutive games.
