The performance of Todd Stevens proved critical in helping Long Island beat Moncton, 7-3. The Torpedoes right fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Long Island pitcher Miguel Perelsa got the win. He's now 6-5. John Sherline was tagged with the loss. The win has Long Island at 38-65.

Mario Carrillo had a big 2-run double for the Torpedoes in the top of the fourth inning. With Long Island leading 4-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Greg Brando and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Torpedoes ahead, 6-1.

"We took home the win," said Carrillo. "What's not to like?"
