Chargers Come Back Late, Nip Rams
|
The Terra Linda Chargers weathered a fine game by Borrego Springs right fielder Mike MacPherson to upend the Rams, 4-3, at Ballpark of Plantersville. MacPherson hit 2 home runs. Reliever Chris Williams picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Marco Montes, who is tied for 9th in the NC in wins with 8, took the loss. The winning continues for Terra Linda, with the latest triumph making it 15 straight.
Terra Linda got a clutch hit from Mike Baumgardner. The pinch hitter launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"It all comes down to execution," said Terra Linda manager Elias Quesada. "Baseball 101."
