Torpedoes Slap 6-5 Loss on Saint Pierre and Miquelon
The Long Island Torpedoes knocked off the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates, 6-5, in Northern Conference action at Spinners Ballpark. Long Island pitcher and Jacksonville, Florida, native Jonathan Weaver had an outstanding performance. Danny Guajardo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 14 save opportunities. Today's win puts Long Island at 35-49, while Saint Pierre and Miquelon falls to 26-58.

Jorge Cardenas had a big 2-run home run for the Torpedoes in the top of the fifth inning. With Long Island leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Jose Polanco, who leads the NC in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Torpedoes on top, 4-1.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Weaver.
