23ers Come Up Short at Toronto, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Toronto Trash Pandas and the Fountain Hills 23ers, pitcher Josh Monroe was the difference between victory and defeat. The Toronto right-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Trash Pandas win. The second-place Trash Pandas are now 54-40, the 23ers 44-50.
Making an impact for the home team was Jaylen Taylor. In the bottom of the fifth, the three-time All-Star had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 3-1, Trash Pandas.
"I had a good game plan," said Monroe. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Walt DeRosier said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
