Fleet Lose 4-2 Decision to Boston
|
The Boston Whistlers converted a terrific effort from starter Antonio Higuera into a win over the San Diego Fleet at Whislters Park. The Whistlers won the game by a final score of 4-2. Higuera, the winner, moves to 9-8. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 6 walks. The first-place Whistlers, at 54-40, now lead their division by 12½ games.
The Whistlers had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 4-2, Boston, with one out. San Diego, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Josh Law dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch fastball, he hit into a double play.
