Long Island had no answer for 20-year old left-handed pitcher Brian Gay. The Moncton Mounties starter stymied Torpedoes hitters, helping the Mounties cruise to victory, 9-1. Gay, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. Sean Ryan was credited with the save for Moncton, his 2nd of the season.

Moncton used the bat of Rafael Rodriguez to get the win. The first baseman spanked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mounties ahead, 7-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it altered the outcome.

"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Gay.

The third-place Mounties improved to 39-32.
