Payne Pops Two Homers in 9-1 Win for Indianapolis
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Indianapolis Eagles and Cleveland Brawlers.

The Indianapolis Eagles defeated the Cleveland Brawlers, 9-1, in part because of first baseman Mark Payne. Payne was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Eagles. Brad Bixby earned the win for Indianapolis. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on 6 hits, while striking out 11. With the win, he raised his record to 9-7.

In the top of the second inning, third baseman Victor Mendez had a 2-run home run for Indianapolis. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Eagles on top, 2-0.

Said losing manager Jason Weber: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."

Indianapolis is second in the National Conference North East Division with a record of 48-46.
