With Late Score, Scorpions Beat Fire
|
The Syracuse Scorpions defeated the San Francisco Fire, 6-5. Doing his part was center fielder Chris Guardiola, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Jared Hall, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-3. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. The victory puts Syracuse at 36-57.
Had Bobby Tapia not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Tapia hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Scorpions.
Said Syracuse manager Ricardo Lopez: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
