In a low-scoring contest, Charleston pitcher Sean Stevens was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win. The winner was Stevens. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Sam Campos. Ken Allbaugh got credit for the save for Charleston. It was his 7th of the year.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Sea Dogs had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when third baseman Jeff Yule hit a 2-run single. The single came off Sam Campos and made the score 3-0, Sea Dogs. Yule was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
