Eagles Sneak By Reapers, 5-4
|
The Indianapolis Eagles beat the Carolina Reapers, 5-4, at Reedy River Stadium. The Eagles got a fine performance from catcher Matt Lepa, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Morgan Jenkins, now 4-3, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Mike Watts notched his 3rd save in 3 chances.
Indianapolis used the hitting of Jim Anderson to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Eagles on top, 5-4. For the game, Anderson had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
Indianapolis now sits at 55-37, while Carolina falls to 40-52.
