The Charleston Shiners dealt the Toronto Trash Pandas a 5-2 loss at Trash Panda Field. Tom Gammill was the star on offense. He was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. Charleston starter Tony Casablanca was credited with the win after throwing 92 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-5. Todd Thompson earned the save, his 3rd, for the Shiners.

The Trash Pandas had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Shiners going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old left fielder Fred Hernandez came to the plate. Hernandez hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch changeup from Toronto hurler Frank Sarabia. It was Hernandez's 16th double of the year.

"We took home the win," said Hernandez. "What's not to like?"

Charleston improves to 50-42 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
