The Tampa Bay Captains rode a solid performance from 22-year-old starting pitcher Joe Bernard to a win, beating the New York Nightmare, 5-2, at Nightmare Stadium. Jason Washington picked up the save for Tampa Bay, his 10th of the year. New York has now lost 5 consecutive games.

Tampa Bay used a well-timed hit by Marcus Greene to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Captains ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Joe pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Tampa Bay manager Jalen Armour.
