Oakland Loses, 14-7, Despite Henkemeyer Exploits
The Indianapolis Eagles overcame a pretty good performance by Oakland shortstop Jim Henkemeyer, beating the Invaders, 14-7, at Eagles Stadium. Henkemeyer went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Indianapolis pitcher Vinny Ceja earned the win, hiking his record to 3-0. David Holloman suffered the loss. Indianapolis raised its record to 55-36 with the win.

Victor Mendez swatted a grand slam home run for Indianapolis in the bottom of the seventh. The third baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 6.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Mendez.
