Coleman Blasts Rams, Bats Take Game 2, 13-4
Whitby Bats manager David Sawyers wasn't expecting much from the rookie playing in his first postseason. Maybe he should have been.

In front of a supportive hometown crowd, 19-year-old catcher Brandon Coleman humbled the visiting Borrego Springs Rams at Eláguila Stadia. Coleman went 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk as the Bats shut out the Rams by a final score of 13-4, to force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 Division Series.

John Austin, who is rated as the 47th best prospect by BNN, chipped in a 3-run home run for Whitby in the bottom of the first. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.

"We hit the ball hard," said Whitby manager David Sawyers. "Line drive after line drive."

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 15th , 2024 at Club Circle Park in Borrego Springs.
