Selects Win, Move to Within 1 Game of League Championship Series
|
The Spokane Selects moved to within one game of the League Championship Series, downing the visiting Walnut Park Bobcats at Selects Ballpark by a score of 7-1. Selects right-hander Tony Suarez had a strong outing in which he threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives the Selects a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.
In the bottom of the second, Spokane right fielder Ron Eckhardt had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out, Eckhardt stroked a 2-run double to left. It made the score 3-1, Spokane. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Suarez.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Selects Ballpark in Spokane.
