Pines Raise Rally Flag, Beat Daytona Beach, 4-2
|
Maine Pines starter Dan Miller pitched his team past the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 4-2. The first-place Pines, at 55-35, now lead their division by 4 games.
Maine used a timely hit from Jimmy Frew to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pines ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"Dan made some big pitches when he needed to," said Pines manager David Whigham.
