Bangor Win Evens Series at 1
|
The Bangor Lumberjacks knotted up the Division Series at Tony Gwynn Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Nick Carrier. Carrier quieted the Mexico City Aztecs, enabling Bangor to grab the 3-1 win and move into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Bangor used the timely hitting of Ken Gavin to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lumberjacks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We lost," Mexico City manager Tony Velez said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Ballpark of Bangor in Bangor.
